Work in Progress, Jan-Jun 09
Heres my WIP for the first half of 2009.
I should be adding a new post in December to cover the latter half of the year and to close off a few of the items below.
I'm listing and linking to my project list if you feel inclined to take a look. Here's a brief description of each project:
1. My Latest site implementation was for a storytelling company, providing storytellers for hire (for events and workshops) to schools and colleges in middle England.
This site was designed from scratch using modular PHP to speed up rework time. The site home page is a none standard design, with roll over images used as the main navigation method (and all powered by CSS) The inspiration for this was from a Stu Nicholls article on 'Image Rollover' techniques using CSS. At the time of writing I'm just finishing debugging 'Safari' and 'Netscape' rendering bugs. Here's the link if you want to take a peek:
StorytellingToday.co.uk.
2. I'm switching from PHP to ASP.NET for my latest web development (self-learning) project in an attempt to find out more about the Microsoft .NET technologies, which seem to be in demand at the moment in the U.K. web world. My language of choice is C# for page controls (which is closer (than Visual Basic) to my C++ work).
This is an ASP.NET 'Basics' site to try out on page controls and back-end databases (with inline C# coding - due to site restrictions on Brinkster). If you are looking for free ASP.NET hosting for your personal pages or blog this company are very helpful. But if you do sign up make sure you read all the guide manuals provided first.
I didn't!... and it cost me a few hours reworking a 'code behind' implementation. Again much to do on here over the coming weeks: ASP Starter.
3. Still working on PHP/MySQL databases and other demonstrations with on-page code examples on this Circlewebs.com sub-site: "CSQL" - A work in progress.
4. A business design I'm working on for a Software Engineering Company. This is just a demo Homepage at the moment (based on an open source template...so not my own design work in this case):Systems21 - Software Engineers
That's all for now, do drop me a line if you have any comment or you'd like a chat about any of the above or in fact any topic related to the work on these pages.
Bye for now...
Rob.
